Athena's engine cylinder and thermal units (the latter consisting of cylinder, piston and gaskets) are known worldwide for their performance, durability and reliability. Rigorous design and control treatments are combined with precision finishing: the thermal engine cylinders are coated with a nickel-silicon coating, or "motor-nicksil", developed by Athena to achieve even greater surface hardness and wear resistance. Quality tests are also of primary importance: all the thermal unit components are verified by Athena's technicians through strict bench and road tests with racing teams.
